Are Mold and Mildew the Same Creatures?

The terms mold and mildew are often used interchangeably, but they are different animals. It is understandable that they often are confused among speakers, since they share a few similarities. Both are attracted to damp and warm places of the home. Both are a type of fungus and have that same aura or creepiness or sliminess. Mold growth can be caused by several types of mold, each of which have different traits.
